I had been wanting to create a store model account for Spork, with an easily identifiable name so there would be no doubt about the association with my store. Thus “Spork Mode” was born on the 7th of August, 2009. “She” would also be a “he”, in preparation for a future men’s clothing line. But the first order of business was to acquire a decent skin.
I had heard that there were skins out there in the Skipping Stones hunt, so I started the journey. It didn’t take long to run into other hunters along the way, and as all good happy residents of SL do, we help each other out. I got into a conversation with one such nice person and dropped some jeans on her from my store. She thanked me, and then proceeded to drop several folders on me. One folder for skins and 3 folders full of hair.
After some small talk I headed home with my new loot to see what kind of goods she had given me. Second Life has an odd folder-transfer limitation, where you can only transfer folders with 42 or fewer items, which means I was now the owner of roughly 120+ full permission skins and hair. Stolen skins and hair from places like Gala, Redgrave, ETD, Magika, Truth, Detour, Cake, 69, Sirena, Heartcore, Naughty Designs, Deviant Kitties, and the old RAC.
There are many others, but I was not able to positively identify all of them.
It’s discouraging when it’s so easy for stolen items to be passed around the grid. If thieves can get away with this, nobody wins. Content creators lose income, customers lose by the reduction of new quality items, and ultimately Linden Labs loses income.
If you own anything made by these people, do yourself a favor and dump them in the trash. Please support the original creators by purchasing a legit copy.

Every so often you will see a package of items that is only available for players that are less than 30 days old. But if you are one of those new players, how would you know where to find them?
Helena Stringer has made a list of where you can find all these items. Not only that, she has even gone so far as to create the script and vendors and has given them to any creators that request them.

Can I get a \o/ hoooo?
After sorting through almost 400 notecards, the correct entries were counted at 255. All of those 255 correct entries were placed in the virtual hat and 3 lucky winners were chosen at random. They are Macey Mandala (1st), SweetVicky Voom (2nd), and Goti Soderstrom (3rd). Congratulations to you all, and have fun shopping!

I just got off the phone with mom, who lives a half a continent away. It’s always nice to reconnect and get caught up on what’s going on in her life.
I hope you all remembered your mom on her special day. Do something nice for her, or just give her a call and let her know you care.
For all you Second Life moms out there (or future moms) I’ve made a special package just for you. These were normally only available when you purchase a certain outfit,but now you can have them just for showing up!
Stop in to the store, look for the grey and green/blue gift box. It’s our gift to you, to honor those who have one of the toughest and most important jobs in the world.

I didn’t want to get involved in the drama, but it seems I have no choice now.
The business between Frolic Mills and Maggie Mahoney was like a car wreck – hard to look away, but you’re just glad to not be a part of it. Or so I thought I wasn’t. Who knew that a simple message of support, a private message, would be broadcast to the public on Maggie’s blog?
I don’t know Frolic, but I have formed an opinion based soley on hearsay. Not fair, I know. But if a dozen people agree on something, there is a good chance that there is some truth to what they say. I also barely know Maggie and Ocean, and only in the brief context of the Runway Fashion Week events. Our interaction was always positive and she has been very helpful in setting things up. That is the limit of my working with her.
It was with that good experience in mind that I sent her a private message wishing her the best with her health battles, and a congrats for not getting tangled in business with Frolic.
Unfortunately I spoke too soon, regarding Frolic. The details that came out later (why did I have to watch the car wreck?) put a very unflattering light on Maggie. Just because Frolic may have done some things in the past that I disagree with does not automatically make Maggie right. And publishing the private messages that others sent is very wrong.
This is not a rant against either BOSL or Runway, but strictly towards Maggie. I wish her the best. Cancer is not something to take lightly, and my prayers are with her. But using my name (as well as others) in a transparent effort to try to draw up sides is immature, underhanded, and quite lame.
Good luck to all the staff of Runway, and especially to Maggie and Ocean. you have a lot to deal with. Please exit Second Life quickly and take care of the first one.

Music Hyun won 1st place with her reflective water Spork photo. Music will receive 5000 L cash and a 1000 L gift card for Spork. Music will also be the feature model for our next release. She will be featured in all advertising for the new release and will be in the store poster.
